My workshops are jam-packed with ideas, inspiration and techniques you can start using right away. There is never any pressure to create work "just like me" -- I will guide you to find your own artistic path and your own voice. No matter which class you take, there is always plenty of one-on-one guidance -- even if you have never collaged or painted before you'll leave my workshops feeling like a pro!

collage discovery workshop: this is the class that inspired my book, Collage Discovery Workshop! In this class you'll learn a few of my favorite background techniques, image transfer methods using b/w and color photocopies, using household materials as art supplies, discussions about artist block & other skills needed for fulfilling art making. This class can be taught as a 1,2 or 3 day workshop and is open to beginning-advanced students.

waxing poetic: the art of beeswax collage. Learn how to create a collage entirely with beeswax - no other glues or adhesives are necessary! You'll learn beeswax transfers, stamping in wax, layering collage elements, transparency, glazing colors and more! This class can be taught as a 1 or 2 day workshop and is open to beginning-advanced students.

beyond unexpected: creating a 3-d collage: Inspired my book, Collage Discovery Workshop: Beyond the Unexpected, we'll delve into creative painterly techniques using household materials. After we've gotten our hands dirty and backgrounds worked out, we'll put together a 3-d cigar-box collage, using the depth of the cigar box format to bring prominent elements to the foreground. I'll show you how to use your own photos in your collages - photos of your family, friends and even pets. I'll also show you how to become more comfortable with using your own drawing and line work in your collages along with exercises to practice and tips you can use right away.

adventures in color: stuck in a rut with your collage color choices? Do you find yourself always reaching for the same color combinations? This is the class for you! We'll cover color theory, color mixing, using color to create a successful composition, keeping a color journal and more. After you learn how to mix your own paint colors (yes you can!) we'll create collages using our new found color knowledge. We will finish off the day with a round-robin collage exchange that is sure to get your color wheels moving! This class can be taught as a 1 day workshop and is open to beginning-intermediate students.

solving the composition conundrum: we all know that having a successful composition is the key to having a successful work of art. In this class you will learn the tricks of the trade to help you create successful compositions in your collage and mixed media artwork. Claudine will show you some her favorite composition tips and techniques for enhancing your artwork, then we'll create collages using our new composition knowledge. This class can be taught as a 1 day workshop and is open to beginning-intermediate students.

minding your own business: are you ready to take the leap from hobbyist to full time artist? Then this is the class for you! In this 3-hour lecture workshop, professional artist and workshop instructor, Claudine Hellmuth, will tell you her tips and tricks to becoming a full time artist. We'll cover topics such as: breaking into licensing, pitfalls to avoid, managing your business files, creating an effective web site, self-promotion and more. You will go home with a booklet and useful real-life information that you can apply right away!
